Description
Inspired by the U.S. Navy’s CWU-36P flight jacket, the Cockpit USA Lightweight Fighter Weapons Jacket delivers the classic look and utility of a warm-weather aviation layer. Made from tightly woven, military-spec nylon twill and lined with smooth nylon satin, this lightweight jacket offers the mobility, breathability, and durability naval aviators rely on. Designed for everyday wear with authentic flight-jacket details, it’s the perfect warm-weather alternative to heavier cold-weather gear.
Built with a bi-swing back for unrestricted arm movement, the jacket includes Velcro-close cargo pockets, a sleeve pen pocket, knit cuffs and waistband, and a full-length zipper with leather pull. A Velcro name-patch field completes the naval look, allowing personalization just like on active-duty gear. For colder conditions, Cockpit USA also offers a fully insulated version of this same design.

Can I add a name tag?

Nylon Flight · Summer Weight
When the flight suit
is already warm enough.
Not every mission needs insulation. The Fighter Weapons jacket is Cockpit USA's CWU-36P-style summer-weight nylon — the lightweight layer US Navy aviators wear in mild and moderate weather. Tightly woven mil-spec nylon twill over smooth satin lining, a bi-swing back for unrestricted movement, Velcro cargo pockets, the left-sleeve pen pocket, and a Velcro field for name tape. Here in all black — the most subdued of its three colors, with Navy and Sage alongside. Made in the USA.

Tightly woven nylon twill — the summer shell
The Material
Twill and satin.
Nothing extra.
Tightly woven military-spec nylon twill sheds wind and wear; the smooth satin lining slides over anything. No insulation — that's the point.
Disclosed plainly: the shell is not fire-retardant. The FR version stays with the fleet.
Construction
Flight-line utility, feather weight.
Bi-swing back
Unrestricted arm movement, per the CWU pattern.
Velcro cargo pockets
Two front pockets with secure flap closure.
Sleeve pen pocket
Zippered utility pocket on the left sleeve.
Full zip, leather pull
Full-length front zipper with leather pull tab.
Knit cuffs + waistband
Rib-knit seal at wrists and waist.
Velcro name field
Takes name tape, exactly like issue gear.

Weight is a spec too.
A summer flight jacket earns its keep by what it leaves out. Cockpit keeps the CWU details — bi-swing, cargo pockets, name field — and skips the insulation, so it wears from spring through fall.

What Customers Say

Same summer-weight family. The Maverick adds the screen-accurate Top Gun patch set; this is the clean version in Black, Navy, or Sage.
Is the shell fire-retardant?
No — disclosed plainly by Cockpit. FR versions are military issue.
Can I personalize it?
Yes — the chest Velcro field takes name tape, exactly like active-duty gear.
