Construction & Materials

The BECK® 882 is the fitted horsehide vest from the Northeaster Flying Togs line — front quarter horsehide cut with a natural taper through the body for a close-to-torso silhouette. The 882 is designed to fit snugly off the rack and mold to the rider’s shape as the horsehide breaks in. This is intentionally not a relaxed-fit vest.

Front quarter horsehide from a label that has built riding gear in the USA since 1928 — rain-resistant, abrasion-resistant, develops a rich patina with miles. One-piece back panel with no seams across the patch area. Legendary Pistola™ tethered gun pockets accommodate a full-size handgun with integrated magazine and phone pouch, sag-proof. No chest pockets — clean front panel. Piping collar for neck coverage without bulk. YKK scratchproof zippers. Nylon Oxford liner. Available in Black and Chestnut Brown. Made in the USA.

Sizing: The 882 tapers approximately 1–2 inches between chest and stomach width. If your stomach measures larger than your chest, size by stomach. If between sizes, size up.

Definitely a fitted cut so check sizing

The 882 is cut close to the torso and it means it. I went one size up from what I normally wear and it still felt snug at first, but the horsehide is molding to me now and the taper looks great. If you like a relaxed vest this isn't it. If you want a clean fitted look it's the one.

Took a chance on the 882 — glad I did

I almost went with the 566 because that's what most of the guys in my chapter wear. Decided to try the 882 fitted cut because I'm on the leaner side and standard motorcycle vest cuts always swam on me a little. The 882 solved that problem. The fit through the chest and waist is closer without being restricting — when I'm up on the pegs in a turn nothing is catching or shifting. Horsehide feels substantial, maybe heavier than I was expecting at this vest length. The concealed carry pockets required a little adjustment to find the right carry position but once I had it dialed in the draw is clean. This thing is built in the USA and it shows in every detail.

Fitted horsehide vest that doesn't flap at speed

I ride a Street Glide and at highway speeds a boxy vest becomes a sail. The 882's tapered cut stays close to the body even at 75 mph. The front quarter horsehide has that signature BECK density and the concealed carry pockets hold everything in place without bulk. First time wearing it I noticed the armholes are cut slightly higher than typical vests, which reduces the gap when your arms are extended on the bars. Hardware is tight, stitching is consistent, and the leather surface is already showing early break-in at the front zipper edge after about 400 miles. Available in black or chestnut brown — I went black.

882 fitted cut is different from every other BECK vest

The tapered fit on the 882 is noticeably slimmer through the waist than the 566 or 501. If you've been riding in boxy vests this will feel completely different — in a good way. Horsehide is the same quality throughout.

Built like the originals

I gave them my measurements and their sizing help nailed it, so the jacket fit right out of the box. Definitely my favorite vest I ever owned.

Thank you! Accurate measurements are the best tool for finding the perfect fit, and we’re thrilled this has become your favorite vest.

Checks every box

The 882 horsehide vest is hefty and well cut, with deep pockets and clean stitching, super excited to get riding in it once it warms up here.

We’re excited for you to put it to work this riding season. The BECK 882 horsehide vest was designed to combine substantial leather, practical storage, and timeless motorcycle style.

Amazing quality, comfort and protection

Absolutely blown away by the quality of this vest. Zipper and snaps used seem to be USA sourced and the leather, while super supple, is super tough and somewhat stiff… the patina and break in on this piece is going to be amazing.

Highly Recommend

The chestnut color is even better in person. It started out warm brown and has already gotten darker and richer from riding in the sun. The horsehide is thick and dense without feeling cheap or overly processed. I carry a full-size 1911 and the inside pockets hold it securely. highly recommend and 5 stars.
