Korean War Silk Blood Chit
FULL PRODUCT DETAILS
The Korean War blood chit was issued to UN forces aircrew flying over the Korean peninsula from 1950 to 1953, a conflict where downed pilots faced a survival environment spanning territory controlled by North Korean, Chinese and South Korean forces at different times.
This reproduction follows a UN forces design. It displays four flags, the United States, the United Nations, Great Britain and South Korea, above survival text in Chinese, Korean, Japanese and English. The English block reads in part: "I am an American (United Nations) flier. My plane has been shot down and I am helpless, but I want to get back and fight again for the peace of the world and your country. If you help me by getting me to the nearest American unit, my Government will reward you well."
Korean War chits were issued in several distinct variants rather than one standard design. Documented examples in museum collections range from ten languages under the American flag alone to twelve languages oriented toward Europe and the Middle East, and the US Army Transportation Museum holds a US, UN and ROK version. Coverage was chosen for the theater rather than fixed by a single specification.
