More about this glove

The Churchill Short Wrist is the minimal-cuff version of the longest-running American deerskin riding glove — made by the Churchill family in the USA since 1897, using the same domestic Whitetail deerskin that has defined the Churchill glove for over 127 years.

The short wrist profile sits at the wrist bone, working cleanly under or over jacket sleeves without bunching. Domestic Whitetail deerskin weighs roughly half of cowhide at equivalent protection and maintains natural thermal performance across a wider temperature range than processed hides. Unlike cowhide, it stays pliable after repeated wet/dry cycles without conditioning — it softens with riding. The elasticized wrist cuff provides a snug fit that stays in place at speed without restricting hand movement.

What happens if they get soaked?

Ride on. Air-dry at room temperature — the leather dries soft, not stiff, and keeps its shape. Never machine-dry, never dry on a heater.

Exactly What I Wanted

The short wrist cut is exactly what I wanted. Sits right at the base of my sleeve, no bulge, no flap. The deerskin is noticeably softer than cowhide and the gloves were comfortable almost from ride one.

Bought these after wearing out my old pair

My old pair of Churchill short wrists finally gave out after about three years — stitching at the index finger finally let go. Ordered the same size, same glove, and they're identical. That kind of consistency is rare. Already have about 600 miles on the new pair.

Cuff was a little stiff to start

The wrist cuff took a few rides to soften up fully — it was slightly stiff the first couple times out. Once it loosened up the fit became really clean. Other than that these are solid gloves from an outfit with real history making them.

Soft and solid

Soft deerskin, a clean short-wrist design, and a solid grip.

Thanks for the honest feedback. The white asks for a little care, but it ages really nicely.

Fits true and broke in

Fits true and broke in fast. The grip is secure on the bars.

Thanks for the honest feedback. Give them a week and they'll feel like they were made for your hands.

Ride after ride reliability

I own a few pairs of riding gloves for different weather. These are my fair-weather daily gloves. They've been out on probably sixty rides over the last year and they look the same as when I bought them, minus some normal patina. No seam failures, no elastic giving out, nothing. Simple and reliable.

Short wrist done right

Been through four or five pairs of short wrist gloves from different brands. Most of them have some issue — elastic that stretches out too fast, seams that rub, palm that's too thick. The Churchill short wrist doesn't have any of those problems. The elastic wrist closure is firm without being tight, the palm seams are flat, and the hide thickness is right for feel without sacrificing durability. About 1,200 miles on them so far without any issues.

Clean short wrist profile, great deerskin

Everyday, no complaints

A comfortable everyday glove with good quality leather. The short cuff tucks under my jacket sleeve without bunching, the grip is secure, and they softened up after the first ride. No complaints.

Means a lot, thank you. They loosen up quickly, and the fit gets better the more you ride.

A little stiff at first

Good gloves overall. The leather was a little stiff the first day.

Thanks for the support. That first-ride stiffness fades fast as the leather works in.

My sport touring setup is complete

Run a BMW GS and was looking for gloves that work with my riding style — mostly sport touring, some ADV, occasional track day. These hit the sweet spot between protection and feel. The deerskin gives you real grip feedback and the short wrist profile works well under my jacket sleeve. I've had them in the rain and they stayed soft and manageable.

Soft right out of the box

Most leather gloves need breaking in before they're comfortable. These were comfortable almost immediately. The Whitetail deerskin has a natural give to it. I did about a 40-mile loop my first day wearing them and had zero issues.

Churchill's short wrist is ideal for city riding

I commute daily through a mid-size city and needed gloves with a lower profile — gauntlets and long cuffs are a pain when I'm on and off the bike constantly. The Churchill short wrist is perfect for this. Slips on and off fast, doesn't interfere with my jacket cuff, and the deerskin stays pliable even on cold mornings. The construction feels legit — reinforced at the knuckles and palm seams. These guys have been at this since 1897 and it shows.

Lightweight but not flimsy

Deerskin gets a reputation for being delicate. These aren't. The hide is substantial enough to handle real use and the reinforced stitching at the stress points adds confidence. But they're still much lighter than cowhide, which means less hand fatigue on longer rides.

Great throttle feel

I switched from a synthetic glove to these and the difference in throttle feedback is significant. You can actually feel what your hand is doing. The deerskin is thin enough that nothing feels numbed out. Good sizing too — ordered medium and it was spot on.

Comfortable daily leather

A comfortable everyday glove with good leather. The short cuff tucks under my sleeve without bunching, the grip is secure, and they softened after the first ride. No complaints so far.

Right on. Genuine hide starts firm, then softens to your hand within a few rides.

Exactly what I wanted from a classic riding glove

I’ve been riding a long time and finally switched from heavier cowhide to these Churchills. The deerskin is noticeably lighter and after a few rides it shaped itself to my hands really well. What I like most is the longer cuff. It closes the little gap between my jacket and glove on the highway without feeling bulky. Mine were snug at first but loosened up nicely. Simple glove, good leather, and comfortable for long rides.

I’m on my third pair

I’m on my third pair of Churchill Deerskin Short Wrist Motorcycle Gloves now following a severe motorcycle accident. My first pair lasted over a decade and are still usable. I was less than a year into my last ones, but they saved my hands entirely from road rash and losing skin etc. There is no better glove out there in my opinion for something simple, comfortable, and of quality. The natural dear skin conforms to your hands and becomes a part of you while you’re riding. This is the only pair of gloves I’ll wear for warm weather riding.
