Flying Tigers WWII Style Silk Blood Chit

The Flying Tigers blood chit was carried by pilots of the American Volunteer Group (AVG), civilian American aviators who flew P-40 Warhawks for the Chinese Air Force against Imperial Japan beginning in 1941, months before the United States officially entered WWII. The AVG operated over China and Burma, where downed pilots depended on Chinese civilian assistance to survive in Japanese-controlled territory.
The chit was issued by the Aviation Commission of the Republic of China rather than by the United States government, because the AVG were civilian volunteers flying for China. The Chinese text asks any civilian who finds a downed airman to help him. Museums render it in English as: "This foreign person has come to China to help in the war effort. Soldiers and civilians, one and all, should rescue, protect, and provide him medical care." This reproduction carries the Aviation Commission characters, the serial number field, and the red Chinese seal exactly as the originals did.
Aircrew flying over Asia commonly had chits sewn to their flight jackets. Both practices are documented: General Chennault's own A-2 at the Smithsonian has his chit sewn inside the right lining, while other examples were carried on the outside back panel.
Silk was specified for blood chits because it was lightweight enough to add to flight gear without meaningful weight penalty, packable into a very small volume, and resistant to the moisture and field conditions that would destroy paper or cotton. We offer a 30-day return window from the date of purchase for regular-priced items, as long as they are unworn, unwashed, and have original tags attached. Customers may choose a refund, store credit, or exchange, subject to the following terms:

Custom orders and sample sale items are final sale and cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded.

To make your holiday shopping worry-free, we’re offering an extended 60-Day Holiday Exchange Policy. Orders placed between November 20 and December 31 qualify for exchange or store credit up to 60 days from the delivery date.

International Shipping
Duties and taxes are the responsibility of the customer and may be levied upon delivery. Shipping estimates do not include custom clearance times. We are unable to create international return labels so return shipping is the responsibility of the international customer.
Cancellation Policy
Orders canceled will incur a 5% cancellation fee due to payment processing fees deducted from our account. We will refund you the remaining balance to your original payment method.
Delivery Policy
Typically packages will be left at your door and do not require a signature. Legendary USA is not responsible for stolen packages.
Damaged Items
Please let us know ASAP if any items on your order arrive damaged. Please keep all original shipping containers and take pictures if possible. Damaged item claims are handled through the shipping carrier (UPS or USPS). We will assist our customers in these claims. We only ask that customers be patient as sometimes this process can take longer than any of us would like!
