More about this glove

The Bad Billy Black is Legendary USA's goatskin short wrist glove — a different leather and a different animal from the rest of the Legendary lineup. Where deerskin is selected for softness and weight, goatskin is selected for cut resistance and durability. Goatskin's tighter fiber structure makes it stubbornly tough against abrasion and lateral cuts — the right choice for riders who prioritize protective performance over the broken-in feel of deerskin.

Lighter in weight than a cowhide glove at equivalent thickness, goatskin runs hotter than deerskin but is significantly more cut-resistant. Built for warm-climate riding, driving, shooting, and tactical applications where hand protection matters and heavier gloves would be too warm. American & Efird (A&E) industrial-grade thread throughout. Elasticized wrist cuff. Short wrist profile. Hand-cut and stitched in the USA. Featured in The Wall Street Journal Fashion Magazine.

Light enough for hot afternoons

Picked up the black Bad Billys for summer riding and they're a lot lighter than my old cowhide pair. The short wrist with the elastic cuff slips on easy at a gas stop.

Light on the hand but tough

These are noticeably lighter than the cowhide gloves I used to wear, yet the goatskin feels like it'd hold up in a slide. I wear them for my daily commute and the short wrist with the elastic cuff stays put under my jacket sleeve. Only thing is the cuff felt a little tight around my wrist for the first few days, but it relaxed. Stitching looks solid at the stress points.

Goatskin holds up better than my deerskin

I've ridden in deerskin for years and picked up the Bad Billys after a buddy talked up goatskin for summer. They're unlined and the short wrist with the elastic cuff is easy to get on and off at gas stops. The leather felt a touch snug across the palm for the first two or three rides, then it shaped to my hand. Stitching at the stress points looks clean and I like that they're made in the USA. After a few hundred miles there's no fraying anywhere, and my hands stay cooler than in my old cowhide pair on hot afternoons.

Tough From Day One

I've owned Legendary deerskin gloves for years. The Bad Billy Black is my first goatskin pair from them and I wanted to document the difference. Goatskin has a tighter grain and feels a bit more structured right out of the box. After a few rides it conforms to your hand differently — less buttery than deerskin but very tough feeling. These black ones look sharp and the short wrist is the same great cut as their other styles. Good alternative when you want something with a slightly different character.

Goatskin grip

Goatskin feels a bit tougher than deerskin and the grip is excellent.

Right on. That's the everyday quality we aim for.

Grip holds in the rain

The goatskin feels durable and the grip holds in the rain.

Thanks for the kind words. Glad they're working out as your go-to.

A workingman's riding glove

No fuss, no frills. The Bad Billy Black does what a motorcycle glove is supposed to do — protect your hands and give you feel on the controls. The goatskin breaks in tough and stays that way. Short wrist sits right. American made. I've bought a lot worse at twice the price.

Honest review from a long-haul rider

Did a two-day 800 mile run with these gloves. Day one was warm and dry, day two started wet. The goatskin handled both conditions well — comfortable in the heat and didn't stiffen up when it got damp. Short wrist is convenient at fuel stops. Made in USA, reasonable price, legitimate quality. I'll buy another pair when these wear out.

My go-to for any ride any weather

I used to have a different glove for warm days and another for cold. The Bad Billy Black goatskin works in such a wide range of temps that I've mostly stopped switching. The leather is thick enough to keep a little warmth without being too hot on mild days. Short wrist, clean look, American made. My everyday glove.

Bought as a backup but they became my primary

Ordered the Bad Billy Black as a backup when my main gloves were shipping. Ended up liking them so much they replaced my previous primaries. The goatskin has that slightly rougher texture that gives you great feedback on the controls. Sizing ran a bit large so I'd suggest going down if you're between sizes.

Broke in nicely after a

Broke in nicely after a few rides. The black still looks clean.

We hear you. Give them a week and they'll feel like they were made for your hands.

Classic black — goes with everything

Black gloves, black jacket, black Harley. Some things just work. The Bad Billy Black goatskin is a step above generic black gloves — the leather is thick and quality and the short wrist fit is clean. Made in USA. Nothing more I need to say.

Goatskin holds up to hard use

My riding style is not gentle on gear. I do a lot of off-pavement rides and tight trails on my dual sport. The goatskin on the Bad Billy has taken real abuse and shows no signs of cracking or tearing. The leather actually looks better with some use on it — has that worn-in character. Short wrist is practical for the kind of riding I do.

Sturdy everyday pair

These have held up well to daily use. The goatskin is durable, the grip holds even in light rain, and the short wrist fits under my jacket sleeve without trouble. A sturdy everyday glove.

Thanks for the review. That cuff fit is a detail we sweat, so it's great to hear.

Tight first, fine later

Good rugged glove. It was snug at first and needed a few rides to soften up.

Appreciate you sharing this. Appreciate the heads-up on sizing; the hide relaxes a bit as you wear it.

Goatskin took a few rides to break in but now they're great

The goatskin on the Bad Billy is definitely stiffer than deerskin at the start. I'd say it took three or four rides before they started feeling broken in. Once they loosened up the fit got much better and my grip on the bars felt natural. Built tough and should last a long time.

Better than expected for an everyday glove

I grab these on weekday commutes so I'm not putting wear on my nicer deerskin gloves. The goatskin on the Bad Billy Black is tougher and more resistant to the everyday scuffs of commuting. The leather took about a week of daily riding before it really softened to my hands. Now they're my favorite grab-and-go pair.

Solid black gloves that mean business

No frills, no patterns. Just solid black goatskin that fits right and feels tough. The Bad Billy name fits — these aren't fancy, they're just built to ride.

I KNOW Gloves

I'm a highway patrolman, I live my life on a bike. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Chris at their store in Brick, NJ. I picked up a pair of Bad Billys because we had traning in Jersey and I always like to find local motorcycle stores. Anyway, these goatskin shortys are insane. Definitely the best and break in perfectly, I wear them tight at first then goat usually takes a bit longer to break in, but its been a month and felt obligated to let Chris and his team know these are the best goatskins out there.

5 Star Review

Love the light weight yet super tough goatskin. Really an excellent glove. I sized down, so mine are not fully broken in yet, but I am sure they will get there.

Clean white glove that holds up better than expected

I was worried white gloves would look terrible after a few rides, but these clean up surprisingly well. The deerskin is soft, breathable, and comfortable for long summer rides. The short wrist is easy to live with at fuel stops and under jacket cuffs. They definitely stand out, but in a clean way instead of looking flashy.
