Chestnut Brown Horsehide Motorcycle Jacket

4.86 22 Reviews

$815.00

The traditional Northeaster pattern in chestnut brown — 1.3mm front quarter horsehide with a color that has real depth in the sun and shows every mile.

Color — Chestnut Brown
Size — 38
Description

The BECK® 732 Northeaster Flying Togs in Chestnut Brown is the traditional Northeaster silhouette in warm-tone horsehide — same 1.3mm front quarter horsehide construction as the black, in a brown that develops more dramatic and visible patina with riding. Brown horsehide lightens and deepens at flex points and crease lines over time, producing a jacket that looks increasingly ridden-in with each season rather than simply worn.

BECK® has built the Northeaster since 1928. Natural scarring and grain variation are characteristics of authentic horsehide. Stitched with Perma Core thread by American & Efird (A&E). Polished brass hardware and YKK zippers. Racer snap collar. Two concealed carry pistola pockets, 9 inches deep. Cordura-lined exterior pockets. Side buckle tabs for custom chest fit. Quilted cavity lining, nylon Oxford sleeve lining. Bi-swing back and vented underarm gussets. Made in the USA.

Before you ride.

How long does horsehide take to break in?

Two to four weeks of regular wear. It starts stiff — that density is the point — then molds to your build and riding position.

Will the chestnut color change?

Yes — that's the appeal of brown horsehide. Creases lighten, shoulders deepen, and the jacket records the miles. No two age alike.

How do I care for it?

Sparingly. Dry cloth for dust; a neutral conditioner once or twice a year. Test inside a pocket flap first.

How should I size it?

Order by your actual chest measurement — the chart is in the Size Guide. Between sizes with a mid-layer? Take the larger.

The Northeaster

The original pattern.
In a brown that earns it.

BECK® has made horsehide riding gear in the USA since 1928. The 732 in Chestnut Brown is the traditional Flying Togs pattern in a hide with real depth — vintage without trying.

Front quarter horsehide — 1.3mm

Front quarter horsehide — 1.3mm

The Material

Chestnut horsehide.
Depth you can see.

Front quarter horsehide is the densest cut of the hide. In chestnut, riders describe a color with real depth in the sun that reads differently indoors — vintage without trying.

It starts stiff, molds to you over weeks, and records every mile after that.

What Riders Say

4.86 from 22 riders.

4.86 22 reviews

Riders talk about the weight heavier than most mid-weights, and worth it after a day in the saddle — and about a chestnut color with real depth that reads vintage without trying. Returning BECK owners from decades back say the pictures do it no justice.

Brown 732 is getting better with miles

Chestnut brown was the whole reason I picked the 732. Elbows and shoulders have started to lighten a little after about two months, and I love how it looks. The racer collar sits flat and the pistola pockets are deep enough that nothing shifts around when I ride. Break in was longer than my old cowhide jacket, no surprise there. If you want a jacket that changes with you, the brown shows it more than black will.

This will be the jacket I’ll never sell

Yes it's a heavy jacket, and after a day in it I understood why people say the weight is well worth it, it's a little thicker than most mid-weights I own, A+ jacket, had to be made as there was limited sizes in stock, took 2 weeks.

We appreciate the review and your patience during production. Many of our Made in USA horsehide jackets are produced in limited runs, and we’re happy the quality justified the wait.

tons of compliments

Classic flying-togs lines in a brown that looks vintage without trying. The color has real depth in the sun, it's funny indoors it looks different than when the sun hits it. I love this jacket.

Thank you! Chestnut brown horsehide has incredible depth and character, especially outdoors. It’s one of those colors that continues revealing new tones depending on the lighting.

better than my perfecto and 1/2 the price

The pictures do no justice, what a piece of work this is. This is my first BECK since actually owning the previous BECKs back in the day. All I can say is this a really excellent jacket for half the price or maybe even 1/4 the price you'd pay elsewhere. I personally love all the minor imperfections that horsehide brings to light. again, super please and I am already eyeing up the distressed one you guys make. Until next time, Ray

BECK 732 Brown - Review

Dear Legendary, I received my beautiful BECK 732 yesterday in brown. What a fine jacket you've made, the fit is perfect and the horsehide feels excellent. Looking forward to wearing this all fall when things cool down out here in PA.

Nice products but slow shipping.

Nice products but slow shipping. Took a week to get my jacket. They sent the wrong size. You would think they would expedite the shipping on the replacement but no. Took another week to get the correct size

A motorcycle jacket that checks all my boxes

huge collector of horsehide motorcycle jackets, this BECK certainly checks all the boxes from the fit, style and distinguished horsehide. I am pretty particular, but for the price and brand this really is a valuable jacket and one that is not just classy looking, but it's mean to be worn while riding. My next BECK purchase will be the new horsehide riding shirt. Hope that helps. ~Fabian

Chestnut Brown -Beck Horsehide

Excellent quality, fit and style. Exactly what I was hoping it would be like. Rode with it last weekend as it's starting to get cooler out and it's leather weather time! Couldn't agree more with the last post I read on the reviews. You won't find this quality of made in USA for this price point. Well done Legendary USA.

Nice jacket I was expecting to be very hard bu it’s nice and soft very good quality from USA workers
I think is a good value sounds expensive but if you think all they have to pay to make it, materials labor insurance taxes…
I order a 40 I’m Medium and it feel tight they exchange for a 44 gives room for layers :ok_hand:

Offical Beck Owner - My Review

First of all 5 star service from Legendary USA. I was probably really annoying because my size is a bit awkward 6'6 260 and I have a longer torso than the average 6'6 and my arms are oddly long. I called them, and played phone tag, finally got Kimberly on the phone who then had the owner Chris call me back. Anyway, we went over my measurements on the phone, he had me take some new arm, belly, chest, neck, neck bone down to wear I wanted the jacket to fall too. Long story short, he made me a custom jacket and it was only like $50 more for custom. I was torn between black or chestnut, but Chris told me his new chestnut brown skins were really amazing and even offered to send me a sample of the leather. I didn't take him up on that, I trusted his opinion and more so I already have a ton of black biker jackets. It took about to weeks, which was not a problem. When I got the jacket, immediately knew I made the right decision. I am beyond happy with it and what a great experience. 5 Stars because if there was a chance to add more stars I would have. -Sgt. 4 Stars, the first jacket you sent got lost in the mail.

Dear Legendary USA,

The jacket is perfection, however because my jacket got lost and although you made it right and got me a new one, I really needed it for a trip that I was leaving for a national run. I know it's not your guys fault, but it left a sour taste in my mouth about FedEX. Chris the owner of Legendary fought tooth and nail to figure it out, but he ended up making me a new one within a week. I do up they found the jacket and I did not mean to cause any drama. Thank you again for being so kind and I'm grateful to work with you guys again and tell all my friends and brothers. 'Jumbo'

Custom was slightly off, BUT they made it right, partially my error

I would give it 4.5 stars ONLY because I ordered the custom and I or they took down the wrong sleeve length. All good, just some shipping back and forth and a little wait time.

The jacket itself is a dime piece. I love quilted lining and feel like they couldn't have done anything better. I do notice that they stick to chestnut brown and black horsehide. Curious why? It'd be great to see a new tan of some sort. Again, great work, just wish I got it sooner and didn't have a sizing issue.

Fits like a glove, first time in horsehide and I love it

First time ever wearing horsehide and I noticed the difference immediately, feels like a glove around me, but still has great movement around the gussets. I think that BECK did a great job and the chestnut brown is really unique and honestly beautiful. I get compliments every ride I'm on, I feel ultra protected as well.. Hard to explain. I would recommend this jacket to anyone who seriously rides. First time shopping at Legendary, and happy I did, the box it was delivered ton of free Legendary stickers, a shirt just really cool. Glad to see a mom & pop business. Keep it old school Legendary. Thanks, - D. Watson

Thank you for being Legendary!

HIgh Quality. FIts like a Glove. Absolutely Love It

Received this last week. I pre ordered it and thankfully I did. These guys are doing great quality work at a very reasonable price considering it's horsehide. Such a smooth jacket and love how I look when I'm cruising around town on my bike. Definitely worth it and i like that they are using their BECK TM. I Support Legendary USA, always have always will.
