MOTORCYCLE JACKETS

Aviation jackets (A-2, G-1, B-3, MA-1) were issued for flight crews. Military jackets (M-65, field jackets, BDU coats) were issued for ground forces. Both are heritage gear with cuts that pull from original military patterns.

The A-2 is the iconic American Army Air Corps flight jacket, in service from the 1930s onward. Goatskin or horsehide, knit collar and cuffs, cotton-lined, with cigarette-pocket flaps on the chest. See flight jackets.

The A-2 was issued by the U.S. Army Air Corps; the G-1 by the U.S. Navy and Marines. The G-1 has a mouton fur collar, the A-2 has a knit collar. Both are leather pilot jackets cut to military pattern.

Trim through the chest with sleeves that hit the wrist when arms are forward. Heritage cuts often run slightly shorter at the waist than modern fashion jackets. Check the size chart on each style.

Wipe clean after wear, condition with a quality leather conditioner from our leather care collection a few times a year, and store in a cool dry place. Real leather lasts decades with proper care.
