More about this glove

The Legendary USA Deerskin Gauntlet Glove is a full gauntlet-length deerskin riding glove built for highway miles — deep cuff extension that covers the wrist and lower forearm, eliminating the sleeve gap that exposes skin at highway speed. Made from domestic Whitetail deerskin, which weighs roughly half of cowhide at equivalent protection and stays pliable in wet conditions without conditioning.

The gauntlet cuff is cut long enough to tuck under a jacket sleeve or wear over the cuff depending on conditions. Unlined construction for direct throttle and brake feel. Reinforced stitching at palm, thumb saddle, and fingertip stress points. The deerskin softens and molds to your grip shape over the first few rides; long-distance riders consistently prefer the break-in result over synthetic alternatives.

My Go-To Gauntlets for Cold Highway Miles

Touring rider here spend a lot of time on the highway in the fall and early spring. The gauntlet design keeps my wrists and forearms warm. Whitetail deerskin breaks in fast and grips the bars naturally.

Three winters and going strong

I bought my first pair of these American whitetail gauntlets three years ago and they've been through three full cold-weather riding seasons without any significant wear. The deerskin has darkened a bit from use but hasn't cracked, hasn't split, and the stitching is intact throughout. I ride a big touring bike and these gloves handle everything from brisk fall mornings at 45 degrees to cold winter days closer to 25 degrees with a liner underneath. The gauntlet cuff is the real difference-maker — it overlaps my jacket cuff by four or five inches and seals out wind completely. I bought a second pair last winter to keep as a backup and gave them as a gift to my brother who rides. He called me two weeks after to say he wished he'd bought them sooner.

Sizing was a touch generous — order true to size

I almost ordered up a half size thinking gauntlets run small. They don't — these fit true to size or even a touch roomy. My medium fits comfortably but not snugly. If you're between sizes, go smaller. That said, the whitetail deerskin and overall construction are excellent.

Perfect touring glove for three-season riding

I put about 12,000 miles a year on my touring bike, riding through April and into November. The American whitetail gauntlets handle that range comfortably. The forearm coverage keeps road wind off the wrist better than anything else I've tried. The deerskin is soft enough for long days without hand fatigue.

Replaced my old gauntlets with these and not looking back

I'd been wearing a different brand of gauntlet for three seasons and they finally wore through. Tried Legendary's whitetail deerskin gauntlets and the quality difference is obvious. The leather is thicker, the stitching is tighter, and the gauntlet cuff actually seals against the wind instead of just sitting there. My hands stay noticeably warmer on the same rides.

Cuff over the jacket

The long gauntlet cuff goes right over my jacket sleeve and blocks the wind.

Cheers for the review. Happy the cuff is playing nice with your jacket sleeve.

Gauntlet cuff was stiff at first but softened up nicely

The gauntlet section was noticeably stiffer than the palm area when these arrived. It took a handful of rides before it flexed as naturally as the rest of the glove. Once it softened up the full glove felt cohesive. The whitetail deerskin is excellent.

Warmer than expected for the weight

Wasn't sure these would be warm enough for late November riding in the upper Midwest. They surprised me — the whitetail deerskin is denser than typical leather and the gauntlet design blocks wind effectively from the wrist up. Really solid for three-season riding.

Warm and soft on the

Warm and soft on the hand. The long cuff blocks the wind well.

Thanks for the support. Happy the warmth is holding up on those frosty starts.

Gauntlet closure keeps everything secure at highway speed

The gauntlet closure on these stays put at 70 mph — no flapping, no shifting. The American whitetail deerskin construction is noticeably heavier and more substantial than the short wrist pairs I'd had before. Great for cold and wind.

Long cuff covers the gap between jacket and glove

Winter riding always left a cold gap between my jacket cuff and my glove. These gauntlets solve that completely. The whitetail deerskin is firm enough for wind protection and soft enough for all-day comfort.

Gauntlet cuff keeps wind out on cold mornings

The long gauntlet cuff on these seals out cold air completely — no wind sneaking up the sleeve. The American whitetail deerskin is thick and warm without being stiff. These are my cold weather go-to.

Drafts stay out

Great cooler-weather glove for me. The extended cuff keeps drafts out, the deerskin is just as soft as the short-wrist pairs, and they look sharp. A solid pick for chilly mornings.

Right on. Those vents really earn it in summer.

Slower over a bulky cuff

Really like the coverage. It just takes a second longer to get the gauntlet over a bulky jacket cuff.

Thanks for the review. Glad the cuff tucks in clean without any bunching.

Tight over winter sleeves

Nice leather and coverage, but the cuff was a tight fit over my winter jacket sleeve.

Great gloves!

I have numerous pairs of Legendary gloves, and I'm very pleased with the
quality and comfort of all of them. The Gauntlets are super nice, and when paired up with their Gator Skin liners, they perform well in cooler temp riding conditions.
However, I must say that if Legendary offered a fleece lined version, those would be absolutely over the top! In really cold weather, the gloves + liners still leave a bit to be desired in the way of finger tip warmth. I also realize that the market for riders that hit the road in truly cold weather is likely to be limited, thus a limited market. So. . no complaints here, merely a suggestion after having logged some miles this winter with the Gauntlets + Gators. Bottom line is Legendary is great company, with great service and I like being able to support a USA based biz!

Good protection without turning into an armored glove

I wanted some extra knuckle protection but didn’t want a stiff glove with hard plastic everywhere. The Uppercut gives you that added protection while still feeling like a deerskin glove. The knuckle area was a little firm for the first few rides but loosened up nicely. Ventilation helps in warmer weather and touchscreen works. Good balance between protection and feel.

The perfect gauntlets. Cover more of the wrist and forearm, and the leather quality is fantastic.
