Royal Air Force · The Irvin Pattern, Hooded
The Irvin jacket,
built for worse weather.
The Imperial War Museums documents the Irvin flying jacket — adopted by the RAF in 1938, worn by the Few over the Battle of Britain, cut short-waisted for the cockpits of Spitfires and Hurricanes. The Dunkirk is Cockpit USA's authentic recreation of that 1938 Irvin Air Chute Co. pattern with one addition the original never had: a removable sheepskin hood, trimmed with fur, for cold the English Channel never asked of it. Handcrafted in the United States.
