Frequently Asked Questions
Are Daytona helmets DOT-approved?
Most are. Look for the DOT FMVSS 218 certification on each product page. Daytona produces both DOT-approved helmets and novelty (non-certified) styles — know which you're buying.
What's the difference between a half helmet and a three-quarter helmet?
Half helmets cover the top of the head only. Three-quarter helmets add coverage around the back of the head and ears. Full-face helmets add chin coverage. More coverage = more protection.
Are Daytona helmets made in the USA?
Yes. Daytona is one of the few American motorcycle helmet manufacturers still operating. Helmets are produced in their domestic facility.
How do I size a motorcycle helmet?
Measure around your head about an inch above your eyebrows. The measurement matches a specific shell size. Daytona's size chart converts the measurement to small, medium, large, etc.
What's a novelty helmet?
A helmet that looks like a motorcycle helmet but isn't DOT-certified for impact protection. Some riders use them in jurisdictions where any head covering counts as a helmet, but they don't offer real impact protection.
How long does a motorcycle helmet last?
Most manufacturers recommend replacement every 5 years even without an impact event. Foam interiors degrade over time. Replace immediately after any impact even if the shell looks intact.
How do I care for a motorcycle helmet?
Wipe the shell with mild soap and water. Remove and wash the liner per care instructions. Don't use harsh solvents on the shell or strap. Store away from direct sunlight when not riding.
