Product Description

The 4-piece blood chit set collects the four defining blood chits of American military aviation history: the Flying Tigers WWII (AVG, China/Burma, 1941–42), the Korean War (UN forces, 4 languages, 1950–53), the Vietnam Era (MAC stamp, 12 languages, 1960–75), and the Persian Gulf (13 languages, Operation Desert Storm, 1990–91).

Together these four chits document the evolution of the blood chit program across 50 years of American military aviation. The Flying Tigers chit represents the beginning — handcarried by civilian American volunteers flying for China before US entry into WWII, often sewn into the back of an A-2 jacket. The Korean War chit reflects the multi-flag coalition structure of the UN conflict. The Vietnam chit shows the program at its most refined, with 12 languages covering one of the most linguistically diverse conflict theaters in US military history. The Persian Gulf chit, printed in 13 languages, is effectively the final major-conflict blood chit — one of the last issued before GPS and improved SERE protocols reduced the program’s operational role in subsequent conflicts.

The silk material is consistent across all four chits, reflecting the military specification that remained constant even as the conflicts, languages, and theaters changed. Each is screen-printed on genuine silk. Made in the USA by Int’l Insignia. The four chits together span the entire operational blood chit era from 1941 to 1991.
