Product Description

The Korean War blood chit was issued to UN forces aircrew flying over the Korean peninsula from 1950 to 1953 — a conflict where downed pilots faced a complex survival environment spanning territory controlled by North Korean, Chinese, and South Korean forces simultaneously. The blood chit addressed this directly: it displayed the flags of the United States, Great Britain, South Korea, and the United Nations, and printed survival text in English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese to maximize the probability of being understood by any civilian encountered after ejecting.

The four-language format reflects the specific threat environment of the peninsula in the early 1950s — fewer languages than the Vietnam-era chit’s 12 or the Persian Gulf chit’s 13, but specifically chosen to cover every likely civilian contact across the peninsula and adjacent Chinese border territory. The Korean War blood chit is less frequently reproduced than WWII or Vietnam variants, making it among the more specific collectibles for those focused on what military historians call the Forgotten War.

Screen-printed on genuine silk. 13.75” H × 10” W. Made in the USA by Int’l Insignia. Suitable for framing or carrying folded inside a G-1 or A-2 jacket’s interior blood chit pocket.
